National Hangeul Museum
The National Hangeul Museum provides exhibitions and opportunities
to learn the history and value of Hangeul, a leading Korean cultural asset.
The museum owns more than 10,000 artifacts that show the symbolism
and historic value of Hangeul, dating from around the time of the creation
of the prototype for Hangeul (Hunminjeongeum) to the present day.
The total area of the museum is 11,322 m2, which includes three floors
above-ground and one basement level, and a grassy outdoor resting area
where cultural events, exhibitions and training are held.
The Hangeul Nuri (library) is on the first floor. The permanent exhibition
hall and areum nuri (Hangeul gift shop, tea shop) are located on the
second floor.
The special exhibition hall, Hangeul playground for children and
Hangeul learning center for foreigners are housed on the third floor.
