Vaccinations for Infants & Young Children (Regular vaccinations – Free vaccinations)

Our goal is to provide basic vaccinations for infants and young children in a timely manner to prevent infectious diseases and secure the general health of infants and young children.

  • Make sure to bring a Medical Insurance Card, Resident Registration Certificate, or Vaccination Card to verify your child’s resident registration number at the time of vaccination.
Yongsan-gu provides free vaccinations to children age 12 or under at designated medical institutions through the national immunization program.

Reminders for before and after receiving a vaccination

Reminders before a vaccination

  • We recommend that the child be accompanied by a parent who is well-aware of the child’s health condition.
  • Take the child’s temperature at home and bring the Vaccination Card.
  • For infants or young children, wash them the day before the vaccination and put on clean clothes.
  • Do not bring a child who will not get vaccinated.
  • We recommend getting vaccinated on a weekday morning.

Reminders before a vaccination

  • Stay for 20-30 minutes after the vaccination to observe the patient’s condition.
  • After returning home, carefully observe the patient’s condition for at least three hours.
  • Do not work out on the day of the vaccination, or on the following day.
  • Do not shower on the day of the vaccination.
  • Keep the vaccine site clean.
  • Observe the patient’s condition for at least three days after the vaccination, and seek medical treatment immediately if the patient experiences high fever or convulsion.
  • Immediately turn the baby around and coax it to sleep.

General Reasons to Not Receive a Vaccination

  • Patient is suffering from an acute fever (However, vaccination is possible for light colds without signs of a fever.)
  • Patient is suffering from acute or active cardiovascular disease or kidney disease
  • Patient has a history of allergy to eggs or chicken meat
  • Patient has shown symptoms of convulsion during the one year prior to vaccination
  • Vaccination is possible at least two months after contracting measles, mumps or chickenpox
  • Vaccination is possible at least one month after measles, mumps or chickenpox vaccination
  • Patient is receiving immunosuppression therapy (steroid and radiotherapy)
  • Patient has received gamma globulin or serotherapy or a blood transfusion within the last three months
